I’ve done both topped and lst. Honestly I’d say it depends on each plant. If they look like weaker plants early on I don’t too but if they are big healthy seedlings I go for it. Not a auto expert by any means tho

I have topped at fourth or fifth node and it hasn’t seemed to slow then down, then I do a little low stress training to spread them out abit.

I find topping doesn't really change how big they get. i use both, top at the 5th node, then remover the first. and a tiny bit of lst if needed. Some plants wont need touching though if they don't get off to a vigorous start.

Good luck

When you say top at the fifth do you mean when it reaches the fifth or you literally top at the fifth? Or do you just mean remove the first node as soon as it reaches fifth?

Sorry if that's confusing haha.

Sorry, just to add, I was reading a method that suggested to top until the second node as soon as it hits the fifth or sixth node. That's why I'm getting confused. But that might be an old method or used for fems? Maybe I'm getting confused. I'll have to read the guide properly lol

Tbh its really up to you. I remove the first as they dont tend to grow as strong as the rest. Also depend how dense the plant is. I aim for 6 strong nodes after topping. Just read the plant i would say...
