Progress in the UK - The Media

Post by Hmr81 »

So me and @Point 5 are always talking about how education will eventually lead to Decrim and legalisation(this isnt a thread about anyones views on legalisation!).

I thought i'd start a thread just pasting in links to articles or TV shows in the MAINSTREAM media. One of the thing we agree about it that a normalisation period has to happen before any law changes would ever be discussed. We've seen recently the Hairy Bikers on BBC 2 getting munted at Prime time. Great! and to be fair they didnt just get twatted and make fairies of themselves, it was a good show and i recommend checking it out. I've seen a few articles recently about canna in the mainstream, but for whatever reason i didn't think to post the links(dickhead i know!). I've seen recent articles in the Mail, Telegraph, Express so if you see any post them up! Positive or negative, it all counts (imho) to a normalisation of canna amongst the general piublic.

Heres one to get us started from the FT, very much the Wine bar crowd type of article but so be it, https://www.ft.com/content/17b4ee98-5d6 ... 252c5b2d57

As I come across more i'll post the links, or if behind a paywall i'll try and grab the text.

Peace.

After riding into Los Angeles, the bikers ditch their bikes to try something unique – cooking with marijuana. It is legal in Los Angeles and is the latest culinary trend from La La Land.

Just walking round B&M or home bargains you see the ganja leaf quite a bit. especial round the beauty section.

This is one you can get in home bargains

Its defiantly becoming more acceptable and normal to see the leaf motif about and not just spray painted on walls

I totally agree with you, as canna is seen more and more, the more people accept it and the stories of the kids who can't stop having seizures should force a change in the law on their own.
Canna culture is definitely getting more mainstream and eventually everyone will be asking why it isn't legal, at this point laws may change

UK will follow in the footsteps of USA.
It just takes time.
The potential revenue windfall is too good to ignore.

It's interesting to see it in the FT, it's companies and the rich that will push for legalisation then though and it wouldn't be a law for the benefit of people like us, just big business.
It would be interesting to compare the amount of stories covering things like canncard and medical use to more economy based stories

It's very much in the media atm, whether that's a good thing or not is difficult to say, personally I see it as positive but when it comes to the nuts and bolts of the law its going to be people like us hounding their local mps to make sure we are heard.

If we stay silent and moan about large pharma / business then we are doomed to start with, the only way forward is to.force the debate rather than let the big boys steal the momentum.

I write to my mp 2 or 3 times a year asking him to consider certain articles which have been things like dismissing gateway drug theories, coutering County lines and human trafficking and of the course the benefit to society via gdp gains. Sometimes he replies, sometimes he doesmt but they have to acknowledge your letter or email by law. If we force the conversation in a shape that starts the wheels turning I think that's a good thing.

This call sign won't be silent until I'm.heard and the injustice of the drug laws reformed.
