Gifted pot
My wife visited her girlfriend and came home with a jar of pot that her boyfriend grew. It is in a jar with a 60 gram, 69% humidity Boveda. The mini hygrometer in the jar read 70% RH. Honestly, it smells kinda funky & not in a good way. I have reservations on smoking this bud. What's your thought? Just rough, newbie weed? Or send to the compost?
To be honest, I'm not hurting for smoke. And how do you give feedback on this? I feel like I owe that on a nice gesture.

Re: Gifted pot
Listen I’m a chicken when it comes to smoking something that may be moldy.. not sure what the yellowish hue on the buds are caused from… but like I said I won’t even drink milk a day passed expiration.

Re: Gifted pot
Probably is ok but give it a trim and look at the buds under a magnification scope and make sure there is no botrytis, in my experience sometimes some weed can get a weird smell when you leave it with untrimmed fan leaves in a bag for a while but usually goes away after a manicure tbh I've had weed looked worse than that which was some FIRE sativa

Re: Gifted pot
So I removed to giant 69% humidity Boveda pack and I have burped the jar several times. Humidity in the jar is down from 71% to 65%. I'll keep trying to get to 60%. Having done this has improved the aroma greatly. It smells more like bud and less like something out of the damp corner of a Stephen King novel.
I have to say that I don't think I am a Cannabis snob. Heck I would say not even connoisseur.....enthusiast would be closer. I just worry about what I'm putting into my lungs. I used a loupe and don't see any mold, botrytis or critters. I'm starting to think this was just poor handling after drying. I'll give it some more time before I decide to scuttle it.
I trimmed a couple of the larger, tighter buds and took a couple photos under different conditions.
