I love growing in coco, Used with a fabric pot it allows you to never overwater which is a huge mistake made by new growers 🙋‍♂️ . It also allows you to use different nutes as well. I like dry amendments and use R.O water ph’d to 6.3 with a little recharge and molasses every once in a while when my Ppm’s get a little low.

Purchasing a cheaper ph pen off Amazon or wherever . Will be you best tool when feeding your medium. If your ever unsure about where your soil is at. Water so you have runoff and test your runoff. Get a cheap ppm meter too. 20$ each roughly
I see lots of people prefer coco what i don't get at this stage is the amount nutria n i need to add on, as in soil got enough nutria n in it already and you can add on as you go along. As far as PH pen i know i need to invest in one as i don't know quality of my water and as in the cost of ph pen may be i'll get middle of the road one.

Hi @mostang64

Starting out growing is the worst part. I started with coco and i'm still with coco. Soil seemed to be confusing as i belive you need to be looking at the plant and thinking what it needs a weeks time or so. coco is like growing by numbers so suits me.

Have a look round the boards and see what you think will suit you.

PH pens are a pain lol. i have a cheap one thats lasted 16 months before i dropped in water and killed it lol

Good Luck and have fun
I had a look at coco it seems a bit more time consuming, i don't mind giving my plant a bit of TLC lol but at the same time feeding them on regular bases every day not to sure, however i can see the the advantages of being in control as i am a number man myself! Thank you for your input and i will purchase a PH pen did not realize they last over a year!

It’s really not that hard. And the number aren’t exact science either . Some plants take more nutes then others . If your measuring ppm we can put it mildly by saying , seedlings like 400-600ppm of nutes, Veg stage 600-1000, and flower can be anywhere from 1000-2500+ ppm. If your really trying to pump up your girls. As long as they don’t show signs of distress your doing good 👌👍
