Re: the importance of correct feeding

The trouble is lots of new growers get sucked into all the misinformation and marketing that exists and become fixated on nutrients and additives. There are so many out there all claiming to make your buds potent and mahusive and there is some truth within most of the information but this is HEAVILY dependent on the health of your plants and the environmental conditions. I always advice new growers to stick with something simple like batmix and Plagron Alga because it's very easy to manage and correct and everything is super available from the bottle and cheap. This allows you to see what affect environmental changes can have and allows the grower to adjust quickly to avoid issues and get a feel for growing. Once you have that sorted, start looking at the more advanced stuff like highy chelated food or ammended soil etc.

Also, don't spend your budget on food and additives! Spend it on quality equipment and environmental control. The most important thing IMO is a consistent environment for the plant to thrive. If you don't have that you can add what you like and your plants will still be crap  If you have a good environment, cheap gp garden center soil and baby bio will produce decent results.

You should be welcoming all the 1st time growers along with this paragraph. Jeez how I remember looking at 1000's of different nutrients and various additives. It's very easy to fall into yes!

I remember starting with coco and amendments myself and then slowly started on soil.

Wish you told me this before hand :strangling: :distraught:

It’s all about reading the plants, keep them nicely fed and a nice slight dark of green but not too dark. Burnt tips are the first signs to back off. You need to understand your feed, how much and how quick it takes to take affect so you know when to up it or back off and how many feeds it’ll take to get them where you want or if over fed to give plain water until they eat wot you have over fed and are back on track then to get back on a level. Never bottom feed, always top feed with a good run off to clean the soil an flush out old feed and salts. In mid flower a few extra litres of water is a good idea to flush out the old feed/salts.
