Keeping notes / records

Post by Grumpy Toad »

I'm curious how many folks keep records of their grows. I've done it since my first try. I note things like date sprouted, date topped, date flipped. I also make note of each feeding and the EC and ph of the mix. I also keep track of my tents relative humidity and temperature, both lights on and off. This is all done on a spreadsheet although a word processor would do the same.

I also make a spreadsheet of my feed schedule to keep on track. I use a white board near my grow so I can make some notes on the fly and not forget about it later. I was keeping a ton of photos but it eats up too much real estate on my hard drive. Now I only document things that are unusual or unexpected.

Let me know if there are things I missed that you think are important to look back on.

This an example of a grow from last year:

My first mentor Viz from another place was about 80 when I met him and had notebooks in storage. He kept records from his first grow till the last time I spoke to him and had them alphabetically organized from like 30+ years. I’m talking everything from the feed, to light distance, and everything in between as well as the results of said actions. I did as well under his instructions for a bit but got lazy. I need to do better at least and keep real records in my diaries so that I can just log onto the forum and go back to see my results and be way more in-depth with my information I post here.

I've considered it many times, but till fully legal here it just seems like creating evidence.

I like spreadsheets too
Keep track of nutrients with this chart

And this is a little calculator at the bottom that tells me how many ml to add to a set amount of water to get me to the desired ml/L

Drugs and Alcohol are never the answer! Unless the question was “what am I doing tonight”.

Nice work. I'm thinking about stealing some of your ideas! :nice:
